Armament is minimal, consisting of four 50-caliber machine-guns. Flight I consists of 13 ships and 6more are planned as Flight II expeditionary medical ships.
The class namesake USNS Spearhead (T-EPF-1) entered service in 2012 but as of 2020 is”Inactive.”
