The M8 Scott self-propelled howitzer was based on the M5 Stuart chassis. The 75 mm howitzer was housed in a rotating turret. An M2 Browning machine gun is used for anti-aircraft and close defense. The M8 was used by the U.S. Army in the European and Pacific theaters of World War II until the M4 Sherman with 105 mm howitzer took over the role. Great Britain also received a number of these vehicles under the Lend-Lease agreement.
