Carcassonne is one of the great gateway games simple enough to teach in minutes, satisfying enough to keep players coming back. You’re building the landscape of a medieval French city tile by tile, claiming roads, cities, monasteries, and farms with your meeples to score points. No two games play out the same way.
On your turn you draw a tile, place it to extend the shared map, then decide whether to place a meeple on one of its features. Timing your placements and knowing when to hold back is the core tension. Features score when completed, so blocking opponents and finishing your own structures drives every decision.
