The Messerschmitt Me 262 was the German forces’ premier fighter, but it was “too little, too late”. It was introduced too late for production aircraft to stem the tide of Allied bombers pounding Germany. To further complicate matters, Hitler insisted a number of the aircraft be diverted for bomber development. It was a swift bomber with two 500kg bombs hitched under the aircraft’s nose. The “Stormbird” quickly became the nemesis of the Allied fighters, and in level flight was nigh-invulnerable. The Allied pilots found the most effective way to neutralize this threat was to pounce on their airfields when the ME262s were landing and at their most vulnerable. This kit includes over 75 transparent and plastic parts to build a Me262A-1 or Me262A-2 in 1/72 scale.
