A passenger liner completed in 1909 for the UKAustralia circuit, then converted to an armed merchant cruiser, mounting eight4.7″ guns. Re-armed with 6″ guns in 1916. While leading a troop convoy from the U.S. she was lost to a collision on Oct. 6, 1918 off the Scottish coast with heavy loss of life.
